Description
Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, with three locations in St. Louis, is an unconventional-minded yet tradition-oriented brewer of craft beer. We like to call our unique brewing philosophy Beer Divergency - a 'new world meets old world' brewing approach wherein UCBC contributes to the 'revolution' of craft beer with artisanal creations of modern American beers, and pays 'reverence' to the heritage of beer with classically-crafted offerings of timeless European beer styles.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice grassy hop with some dry cracker malts. Flavor is a super clean almost pils malt with more of the grassy/floral hops. FInish is again clean and fleeting. This was a fine well made lager. Very tasty and shows you in the right hands a lager can be considered craft beer. Definatly a high rated lager.

Pour is a clear copper with a small whtie head. Aroma is deffinatly all malt. Very Maris Ottery. Flavor is a toffee and caramel malt forward beer. Finish is clean and earthy. Not a style that’s going to wow anyone but it was true to the style and very drinkable.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 beers this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a medium sized foamy beige head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was faint and dryish with touches of walnut and wood. The flavor was dry and woody with notes of walnut, faint smoke, a bit of turpentine and an off medicinal presence. Long finish of turpentine and walnut. Medium body though a bit undercarbonated. Not good.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 beers this beer poured a dark golden color with a huge creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was bready with a faint citrus note. The flavor was bready and a touch nutty with hints of lemon, egg white and pepper. Medium length yeasty citrus and pepper finish. Medium body. Fairly basic.

Bottle at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours clear amber with a fine, filmy tan head. Lots of sugary malts, heavy malts, alcohol. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, toffee, some honey, caramel, golden raisins. Not bad. Rich beer.

Tap @ Urban Chestnut. Pours a hazy orange appearance with an off white head. Super spicy, resiny, grapefruity, pepper aroma that tickles your nostril and was really a bit too much for me. Orange/grapefruit citrusy, incredibly spicy, ganja, light white wine flavor. Pretty tasty but the hops were a bit out of control. If they ease up a bit on the amount of hops, this could be a fantastic beer.
