On draught at the Geisen Haus in Canton, OH. The server was unaware that Blimp City has gone out of business. This is under the label of "house dark" but it is definitely the Black Ale. Pours a flat black color with a thin light beige head. Mild carbonation is apparent. Aroma of malt with some caramel. Flavor has a lightly fizzy feel and tastes of malt, coffee, and caramel. Finish is thin and sweet with a touch of chocolate. Not outstanding but still a shame to see it go.

This beer wasn't very pretty, but I guess looks aren't everything. This is Akron's attempt at a Koelsch. I liked Blimp City's Macon Ale much more but this still wasn't too bad. Light golden color with some carbonation. Thin white head. Somewhat floral aroma. Rather dry with hops seeping out pretty steadily from start to finish.

What a wonderfully balanced beer. I was not expecting much from a beer from the Rubber City (tires, you pervert). The beer is a dark brown with an amber tint. Thick and rather foamy beige head. Nice malt and caramel flavor but it is not overpoweringly sweet. This is all nicely contrasted with a hops kick. The finish is lively and nicely hopped. I lament the loss of this fine beer, and the fact that it was never available to me locally.
