Description
The Ottenbräu brewery was first mentioned in a document in 1609. But the oldest lager cellar even dates back to the 13th century. The brewery has been owned by the Neumaier family since 1846. Currently Robert Neumaier is the owner of this one-man business. So he is the one who shows visitors around, who cleans the tanks, cleans the floor, brews the beer and even delivers it himself twice a week. The brewery and the beers are ''Zwergenfrei'' (free of gnomes) which is of course a tease towards the nearby big Kuchlbauer brewery and their obsession with gnomes.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a beautiful and dense foamy white head, slowly lacing. Moderately sweet malty, fruity (apricot) aroma with a light touch of woody hops and a whiff of alcohol in the background. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Solid malty, slightly strawy and bready taste with a touch of cara-malt and again with a subtle fruitiness. Sweet, not too fat malty finish with a light but balancing hoppy bitterness. Clean and pleasant to drink Festbier.
