On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma reveals notes of resinous hops, cloyingly sweet candied sugar, and perfume. Flavour is on the sweet and malty, with caramel malts upfront, sugar, and light resin. Too malty for me, but not a disaster. Meh.

Draft - Orange, earthy and boozy notes. Clearish copper with a decent white head. Sweet orange, light booze and a long nice finish.

Copper amber color. Aroma is a little forest and leaf. Mild bitterness aroma. Generic alphas. I love the malt aspect of the beer. Sweet fruit cake with hoppy apples around it. Moderate long bitterness.

On tap at Toronado SF. Hazy orange/amber with a small white head. Nicely hoppy and balanced with grapefruit, hay and pineapple. The finish was bitter and relatively dry.

22 oz bottle foiled, and disguised from the usual Georgetown look. Pours a brown color with a thick creamy tan head. Spicy aroma. Flavor is dry and dusty, though the nutty, malty flavor that is really nice. Barrel flavor comes through, though it’s in no way intense. A bit of a woody finish. Enjoyed this beer. Great stuff.

Tap at Kopta. Deep, dark red, close to purple. Fine head. Nose of citrus, cherry, some caramel malt. Fruity, hoppy flavor, nice spicy hops. Smooth and rich. Decent.

22oz from the brewery. Poured into St. Bernardus tasting glass. Long lasting head, really sticks around forever, Ruby brown color, cannot see through it. I was happy with the first smell being not super estry or sweet, thank goodness. As I keep drinking I actually like the beer, which is a surprise for a brewery like G’town and this style. Aroma is very grainy/buckwheat, which I love when I get in beers. Very earthy and not sweet, no fruit esters to speak of. A medium body that is broken up by a lightly vigorous carbonation. The beer finishes light on the palate. Flavor is similar not sweet or estry yet totally Belgian. Nicely grainy malt. Really surprising and highly appreciated. I think I’ll buy another bottle.

Bomber shared by Eugene - nose of toffee, dusty, musty yeast character, some mildly spicy phenolics, a bit of muskiness - flavor is not overly sweet - some toffee and toasty dark bread - balancing acidity through the middle - a bit of raisin, light earthy phenolics - finish of toasted nuts, light dark fruit, and caramelized sugars, baked apples - surprisingly good.

Draft at Ballard Beer Company. Dark red color with a big hop head and lots of lacing. Hoppy and vegetal hops circa 2005. An interfering yeast fruit. Unfortunate caramel and sweetness in the beer as well. A red that should have been made better 5 years ago.
