Sampled at Toronado 2009 Barleywine Festival. Pours deep clear copper with tan head and spotty lacing. The aroma consists of figs, fruit cake, saffron, a hint of ginger and a background of sweet malts. The taste is much the same with rich malty sweetness mixing with the odd winter spice mix. Interesting. The dark fruity esters rise up midway with raisins, cherries and plums. The raisins approach having a peppery sensation at the finish. Nice stuff.
