Bottle at the Pembury. Dark colour with a small beige head. Aroma is alcohol, sweet caramel malt, but of treacle. Taste gives slight bitterness, but with a foundation of caramel malt/belgian dubbel taste. Sweet and slightly herbal. Quite nice!

Bottle from AH. Cloudy dark orange color, foamy offwhite head, persistent. Smell of wheat and citrus. Flavor of weird wheat, like weizen flavor but not much pleasing, seems off, very earthy, rotten bananas. Taste mild sour, light sugary, mineral. Finish dry, lemony. Leaves a weird white wine aftertaste with booze. Didn't like.

Bottle. Found at last, in the Mitra in Ommen. Dark brown color. Caramel, butter and a hint of raspberry in the aroma. Caramel, butter, chocolate cake and laurel in the flavor. Just a bit alcoholic, but satisfyingly balanced.

Malty aroma with prune. Sweetish, yeasty taste with chocolate and prune. New label: maybe new recipe: Licorice and pepper aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor with hops, pepper and some licorice. Too sweet to be really good, but not bad at all.

Grapes in the herbal aroma. Yeasty flavor with honey and grapes. More a German hefe-weizen than a Belgian white.

Aroma has butter and a hint of hops. Yeasty, herbal taste. Butter and pine tree. Alcohol is badly hidden. Disappointing beer with an unclean taste. Re-rate: dirty peacharoma. Hopbitter and malty sweet flavor. Again a dirty palate and badly hidden alcohol. Bitter almonds in the aftertaste.

Bitter, yeasty beer with orange and apple. Disappointing. Re-rate 2003 version: Malty cake dough aroma. Malty flavor, just a bit roasted, earthy. Medium to full bodied with just a hint of smokiness. Certainly not perfect but has bettered considerably (original rating: 2.4)

Amber color, frothy head. 75 cl bottle, best before july 2004. More soap as hops in the aroma, but the flavor is much better. Some hops, more citrus and pinches of soap and caramel. Thinnish but tasty. Goes well with a game of darts. Beat them, Barney!

Tap, Café Morshuis in Albergen. Orange color, cloudy. Decent creamy head. Slight malt and strawberry aroma. Malty flavor, just a bit yeasty. Orange, strawberries and hints of licorice. Maybe a bit thin, but very easy to drink. Bottle: somewhat perfumed aroma. Caramel and mandarin flavor, yeasty. Tap: 3,5, bottle 2,4. This rating is an average. Bottled as Hanze Donker Witbier. Serious doubt if this is the same beer. ABV is only 5%. Caramel and ripe fruit in the aroma and flavor. Wheaty sweet. Soft herbal yeasty notes. Nothing exciting.

Tap. Very perfumed aroma. Initial sweetess overwhelmed by alcohol. Full bodied. Hopbitter. This beer has a bit too much of everything, and is therefore not well balanced.
