Description
Dirwest is the Welsh word for Temperance a tongue in cheek nod to our chapel going fore-mothers, depicted in some pictures as tea drinking welsh ladies in full regalia. "Dwyfor" one of the old Welsh counties still practised "Dry Sundays" by law until 1996 a law dating back to the Victorian era. Today we can choose our drink and choose non-alcoholic, and DIRWEST is here to give you choices, non-alcoholic drinks that have plenty of fun like the fun buses that used to travel out of Dwyfor every Sunday to neighbouring counties! Tastes great, gluten free, low calorie and vegan too!

Green values** We strive to be plastic free, and all decisions are made with the greenest most eco freindly possibiities in mind. For example our Botanical spirit bottle is made of flint which is very light, recycled glass and better for transportation. The label is made of organic ink and is hand-applied to our bottle. The beers are in aluminium cans which is the most eco-friendly option as they are 100% recyclable. All of our packaging is recycleable cardboard and paper. All products are made in Wales.

31/8/2025. Can bought direct from Dirwest. Pours very well but isn’t especially pleasant unfortunately. Worty undertones, odd bitterness, watery. Low abv and low calorie removes the guilt from drinking beer but this one takes away much of the pleasure too sadly. Update 30/11/2025. I rated the beer 4.4 in August and didn’t enjoy it but curiously the second of the four cans from the 4 pack that I tried today straight from can was much more enjoyable. Score updated to 5.9.

Can bought at Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst. Clear amber. Head starts off big and foamy but promptly shrinks to a thin translucent white. Aroma has light resinous with caramel and a buttery streak. Light-medium bitter. Some resin. Some tart citrus. A lot of OG sweaty socks and malts. Light. Thin to slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Not particularly nice - the bitter/sour/sweaty socks unpleasantness.
