Bottle from Modern Liquorts in D.C. Pours very dark brown with a slight, transient dark tan head. Aroma is sort of chocolate, treacle and bourbon. Full bodied. Mind almost went on an out of body trip. Amazing. Flavor is aroma plus a definite soy sauce thing. Gosh all dangies, if I can get a bottle to take home, I’ll be sure to get it involved with sushi. Suddenly realized the ABV. Whoosh. Heat is not noticeable until you remember the ABV. This is out of the ballpark, in any number of ways.

Growler from State Line. Not very sour or funky. Mostly musk with hints of funk. Cranberries are hard, they don’t come off as berries but I feel like I tasted a vegetal berry akin to cranberry. A thicker mouthfeel and a lower carbonation for style. Pretty average stuff, have had better from Free Will. Thick, dirty, purple reddish color. Can’t see through it, very sooty.

Wonderful flander’s red. Pours brown with good head and lacing. Apricot, sour plum. Great balance. Some acidity is slight imperfection like a beauty mark. Tap at Savor.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a dark black cherry skin color with a thin white foamy head that quickly fell off. Mild sliding lace.
The aroma had some sweet to sour to tart blend of dark fruits (black cherries, plums, and dates), light milk chocolate and a pinch of dark chocolate at the end.
The flavor was somewhat tart with a touch of the bitter between the dark chocolate and the dark fruits. Some sour, light notes of apple cider vinegar. Aftertaste leaned sweet. Finish was malty but tart and sour as well.
The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Sour harshness was tame.
Overall, not bad, I guess this is their version of a Flemish sour brown ale? Well, works for me.
