Bottle from Whole Foods Bowery. Stirred up & poured into an Ommegang chalice. Faintly fizzy, dusty yellow body. Smells of red apples & pears upfront. Juicy Fruit gum & aerosol. Warm plastic & mild pie spice trailing. Taste is mildly tart apple wine/juice box upfront, with some bubble gum sweetness. Turns thick halfway in, with chalky banana yeastiness & a generally starchy texture. Prickly carbonation that dies on you when you need it. Dusty texture. Harsh alcohol for only 6%. Ugly, lingering, creamy Play-Doh plastic-y finish. Out of a dozen or so witbier ciders I’ve had, I’ve liked a grand total of one. Though this one had a lot more problems with it then just the yeast.

Bottle. Sweet fresh apple, oak and light whiskey aroma Hazy honey gold with a thin white ring. Sweet-tart apple, oak, subtle whiskey flavor. Light body, lively carbonation. I’m a sucker for apples and oak, they were made for each other.

Bottle. Oaky, musty apple, light whiskey aroma. Hazy honey gold, fizzy white skiff of bubbles. Oak, light booze, and musty apple flavor. Light fizzy body, dry finish. Different, but I like it.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a white wine glass. Pours clear light amber, very little head, no lacing, no carbonation, and light wood aroma. Taste is oak, some water down soft whiskey, and a hint of apple which peaks out occationally. A little more apple taste would have been nice, not my thing.

4 liter box from State Line. Pours a crystal clear golden color. Intensely spicy aroma with notes of cinnamon, apples and mild leather. The taste is spicy, floral, pears and apples. Faint vanilla and darker apples, along with hot cinnamon candy. Spicy finish. Very interesting cider and much more intense than the name implies.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy yellow-orange color with a bit of a head. Aroma of sweet, crisp apples with a bit of spice. The taste is dry apples, herbal notes, spice, almost a wood note. Medium bodied, high carbonation, crisp finish. Decent cider. P.S. Holy hell there’s a lot of sediment in this one! By the end of the bottle there’s more than a half inch at the bottom of the glass. Oh well, gotta get my fruit somehow.

On tap at Good Beer(10/19/11). 12oz-ish pour. Hazy, straw color. Crazy activity. Dominating bubblegum scent. A little acid, yeast, & skin. Taste is bubblegum, some curiously delicious tropical fruit, eating apples, & very grainy yeast. Barely tart. Soft, sugary sweetness. Pretty unique mix as far as ciders go.

Ingredients: ...Natural Apple Essence. Bottle from Charles St. Liquors in Mass. Swirled per directions. Hazy, very pale, gold body. Smells of pears, candy, & cooked grain. Fermented fruitiness. Tastes like white table wine. Lemon. Calcified texture. Faint, powdered sugar sweetness. Moderately high acidity, not much tartness. Carbonation is fleeting. Reviews seem to suggest that this one has a very short(or at least inconsistent) shelf life.
