Sampled off the picnic table at Dark Lord Day - I had to travel all the way to Indiana to try this beer that is brewer not 50 miles from my house - anyway, I was a little disappointed in this effort - the body and flavor were a bit thin for the style - and that weird bubble gum taste that sometimes plagues scotch ales was very present in this one - some warming hints of plum and scotch swirled in the mix, but never really found harmony - just okay.

Bottle Pours a hazy brown with a quick light tan head. Very littel spotty lacing. Sour and dry on the nose and on the tounge. I don’t detect the cherry but this was a nice cross between a brown ale and a lambic/sour. Odd, and interesting. Nice dry finish.Thanks to BeerCellar2 for this one.

Cask. Notes from last nights Cask Festival @ the Brazen Head. Poured into half pint glass with just a bit of foam on top. Smell is different than the standard barley wine. Cant pinpoint, may be the Bourbon but not sure. Taste is very mellow, especially for a barley wine. Well balanced, low on hops. Almost no bitterness whatsoever. Medium body and no presence of alcohol. Again, very different from a standard BW.

I was sent this one maybe a year ago and it waited patiently for the proper time to share it. Thanks to Jeffin7 IIRC. Large off-white head atop a amber body. Cinnamon graham cracker aroma, spices, toast & honey. Complex flavor as well, some spice, licorice, sweet herbs and alcohol. A different beer that can’t be described easily.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a hazy orangey golden with a creamy, off-white head. Spicy, peppery nose. Medium, dry body with a wee touch of honey and then some fantastic spicy notes that I cannot really pin out - thyme perhaps, or ginger? Dry but not overly hoppy finish. Tasted at the Oklahoma Beer tasting March 06 hosted by mjames and lilannie. 240306

Tap at Waterfront Ale House, Brooklyn - dark brownish copper with rather large, foamy head - roasty, almost smokey aroma - quite dry, but still refreshing - lots of subtle cocoa and dark fruit - smoke, wood - I could drink a whole keg of this.

Cloudy golden, foamy (it gushed but had been agitated earlier). Honey, flowers, and fuselly. Dry and fizzy palate. Lightly hoppy finish, with some spicy pepper. Curiously clean.

750ml bottle-pours a big foamy to rocky tan head that laces. Color is cloudy with particles copper. Aroma is fruit, floral hops, spices. Taste is spices, hops and a good medium maltiness. Earthy, good effervescence. Great occasional beer.

2004 bottle. Hazy brown color with a thick frothy light brown head. Caramel, molassas and dark malt aroma. Very sweet caramel flavor.

Hazy orange color with a large white head (exploding out of the bottle) that diminished down to a light foam. Aroma of caramel malts. Light citrus flavor which is then dominated by sweet caramel malt.
