Hmm...what an odd beer experience. Burnt orange color - aroma of oranges, herbs and candy - the flavor is very, very subtle, yet complex at the same time - slight tartness up front - slight peppery feel, with a whole spice rack of herbs thrown in there - hints of grain, slight malt presence in the end - finishes clean and refreshing, though a little on the thin side - a great beer if you feel like a change of pace.

Vibrant tangerine colour. Minimal carbonation. Little head. Quite hazy. Aroma has sweet herbiness, pepper, sorbitol candies, and sticky earthy malts. Body holds sufficient carbo, despite what it looked like. What a whacked-out flavour! I was definitely not expecting such a puckering acidity. Flavours of oranges, all sorts of herbs I'm not familiar with, cherries dipped in Calvados. The underlying sweetness provides a fascinating foil as pale malts strike glancing blows at the tart body. Quenching, hay-like finish. In a blind tasting, I would have pegged Vapeur as the brewer of this beer, without question. Unique in my experience, this is an amazing product.

Medium brown colour; some woody, caramelly malt, slight band-aid. Malty, some hard candy, caramel. Very muddled flavours and overall lack of focus.

This is a quality offering. Dark amber color, with a peppery aroma. This has just enough malt presence to satisfy the malt lover, and it has a combination of sweetness and spice that balances nicely. It is kind of like Victory V10 without the tartness, though not quite as complex.

This is a very good American-made belgian ale. Good carbonation, color and lacing. The aroma is of citrus and yeast. The flavor is sweet and slightly malty up front, and citrusy and tart in the middle, with a finish of caramel and melons. Another quality offering from heavyweight.

This is the first of this style I have tried, and boy am I impressed. It's like a cross between a barley wine and a belgian strong ale. Light, ruby color, with a generous amount of lacing. Malty, yeasty, candy-like aroma. The flavor is of ripe fruits (cherries, grapes), yeast, and a slight peppery spice (as is suggested in the commercial description). This is a mighty fine beer. It's the third I've tried by this brewery, and now I think I will try any of their brews I can get my hands on.

Thanks to dberger624 for this one. My second foray into Baltic Porters (Sinebrychoff being the first), I think I like them! Pours a thoroughly dark brown/black with a brown and foamy head that reminded me of the head on a rootbeer float. Strong chocolate and malt aroma. Flavors of chocolate, alcohol, malt, and a little fruit. Finish is very smooth, sweet and chocolatey. I seriously doubt they made them this good in the Baltics back in the day. Thank goodness for technology!

Thanks to dberger624 for this one. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin off-white head. Very little lacing. Aroma is a nice blend of citrus (orange), malt and spice. The flavor is a nice crisp and sweet mingling of caramel malt, fruit, yeast, and spice. There is a tiny bit of hops in the finish too. This was not bad at all.

Near black, low carbonation & head. Roast & chocolate aroma w/ nuts, toffee and faint alcohol. Firm body. Lots of alcohol presence in between which lies roast, chocolate, sweet cream and herbal hops.

Amber w/ slight haze. Fresh Vienna (actually it's actually Munich but I guess he went easy on it) malt & beech smoke aroma. Drips with smoke, some woody notes...caramel & vienna malts (which I suppose put together does sort of equal Munich - I should have put that together). Dry finish. Moderately sweet middle (hops add earthy context but little bitterness). Hints of alcohol in the finish.
