Cask-conditioned at the Swan, Tockington Gloucs 20/5/08. Reddish amber with no head. Red fruit and caramel aroma with a touch of earthy hops. Easy drinking, with a sweetish flavour, some spicy hops and a good bitter finish. Surprisingly good for a GK beer.

[500ml bottle from Asda, High Wycombe] A weak head, slight fizz, no flavour other than a horrible bitter and sour aftertaste that lingers for long afterwards. Quite simple one of the worst British ales I’ve ever had.

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and reddish/orange with a lacing white head. Light fruity hops aroma. Flavour is light fruity and fresh. Fruity finish with a light bitterness.

(Cask at Priory Arms, Stockwell, London, 25 April 2008) Amber colour with frothy, white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of toffee, caramel and hints of sulphur. Malty, nutty taste with toffee and slightly dusty, earthy hops in the finish. Fairly boring bitter, actually.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Deep, reddish amber with a short-lived, off-white head. Butter toffee and floral hop aroma. Full mouth feel with more buttery sweetness and some discordant hops in the finish. This became less pleasant the more I drank and one was quite enough.
