12 oz brown bottle. Date code is 1872! When you pop the lid it smells a quite cabbage~like, maybe cooked broccoli or cauliflower . Says lager but is really a Bohenian pilsner. When you pour it is the wonted american pale yellow clear color. After you pour it the smell is not so overwhelming and I think I can smell some beery yeast. Initial flavor impact is is hoppy bitter. Perhaps some grapefruit rind in there! Bitter medicinal qualities, has more personality when compared to the gentleman mannerisms of the lagers I prefer. Industrially metallic to a certain extent. The end of each swallow brings a reminder on the uvula of that linger. Not as good as the other Nova Paka brews I’ve sampled. Finish has a mildly acrid hold on the back of your throat that hangs for a while. Very similar in satisfaction as B.B. Originál Svetly Lezák Budweiser Bier or pilsner urquel but certainly not as good as Zlaty Bazant 12% (Golden Pheasant). Probably on par with Erie Presque Isle.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is of straw combined with lighter notes of malt and cardboard. The flavor is cardboardy and malty, leading to a dry cardboardy end. Not very pleasant.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, pilsener golden with a rough, dissipating white head. Discreet aroma of hops. Thin and watery body. Odd, smoked, baconish and very unclean accents. No real bitterness. 040307

Bottle label brauczeck bock. Interesting slightly skunky aroma. Pours light brown lemony orange in my poor steeler stein, almost like a clear lager. Has initial hit and personality. Yes, bocklike in flavor. Pretty strong malty alcoholic taste - but not as strong as St. Nick by Penn. Has a slight linger on the finish. This is probably one of the better hellers I’ve tasted.
