Clear golden amber topped with an off white cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is biscuit, herb, fruit esters.
Taste comprises caramel, fruit rinds, herb, dusty hops.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Okay for the style.

Solid porter and especially good for only 4.5% ABV. But I got little chocolate, caramel or coffee (none added) and heaps of smoke, big lashings not a lick. Essentially a dry, heavily smoked porter. Great if you like heavily smoked porter. Too much smoke for me.

[44cl can bought locally on the Coromandel.] A dull dark amber pour with a ring of white head; aroma of tropical fruit and spicy malts; smooth in the mouth with some sweet rye bread, gooseberry and grapes; then some chewy malts and a dry finish with some warmth. Once again for this brewery let down by the appearance.

[44cl can picked up on the Coromandel peninsula.] Probably the worst looking beer I’ve ever seen - a hazy mixture of stewed tea and dishwater, with a short lived soapy white head; otherwise okay with a peachy aroma; peachy taste with a rye bread body; then some very sharp grapefruit to close. Best served with your eyes closed!
