Grabbed bottle on way home from work just to continue my sake kick. Pours relatively clear with thinish tinge of iron. Nose is perfume, melon, and rice. Tastes floral, of unripe honey dew, watermelon, cocunut, rice, slightly herbal and medicinal. Overall touch flat but drinkable.

1.8 liter bottle, given as a gift, and opened about 10 months later. Nose of caramel, milk, yogurt, rice. Relatively unimpressive. Clear and light looking. Sweet, light caramel and rice, alcohol, some peach and melon. Simple but not bad. Body also fairly solid. Nothing special, but more drinkable than I expected.

Bottle from Liquor Mountain. Clear, bubble, a bit like Sprite. Rice and koji nose, fruity, dusty, not particularly offensive, but a bit boring. Lemon-lime flavor, like 7-Up but a bit dryer, a bit of ester and cream. Melon. Sweet but not offensively so. Dryish finish. Not terrible like most of this ilk, just boring and lame. Rather reminds me of mineral water.

Bottle shared at Sushi Morikawa, The Hague. Pours light clear yellow. Aroma is floral, vanilla, rice sugar, fruits and alcohol. Flavour is over moderate sweet bringing out the same aspects with a light pepperyness and alcohol but in a pleasant way. Really enjoyable.

Bottle. It’s a very milky white sake, with some very fine light grey particles. There’s alcohol on the nose, hints of rice, as well as a good fruityness. Peaches and other tropical fruits. There’s a whole lot of fine grain particles in the mouth, with the strange viscosity I’ve had in lots of sakes. Not oily, not full-bodied, not thin. Just can’t find the word or words for it. Peaches, cucumber, some green grapes and a touch of rice in the flavor. Umami hints and a good dash of lighlty warming alcohol too. Long finish. A pleasant one, although I’m not sure if I like the particles as coarse as in this one. 130903

Bottled at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok. Clear and colourless. Mild licorice aroma. Mild, but watery. Black pepper and aniseed diluted in water. Slightly oily mouthfeel with very mild alcohol burn. A bit sketchy with unpronounced character.

Bottle, 11C. Clear. Aroma of dried berries and flowers. Smooth, light texture. Rather neutral taste with most of the action being a perfumed aftertaste, but there’s gentle honeydew melon running though it. Floral with light herbal notes at the end, a little alcohol. It’s been a long time since I tried sake and I have no idea - but I enjoyed this.

Bottle. Almost water clear body with aromas of vanilla, oak, rice and some very light fruit (pear is about as close as I can come with a description.) First sip makes me shudder just a bit as the alcohol is just in your face burn up front. Then the flavors start to blossom and grow as the initial shock subsides. At the same time, the warmth starts to come back, so it finishes hot and full flavored. Pretty decent stuff, and about time I got around to rating some saki.
