Small bottle at home been slacking on sale lately due to lack of supply. Fairly clear pour. Nose is fruity and floral. Tastes floral, some walnut, earthy, pears, rice pudding. Smooth palate some creaminess.

Carafe from a magnum bottle, drunkk at some random noodle shop in Boston, 4/4/14
Just a hint of yellow tinges the otherwise clear colored liquid, giving it a pearl-like color. Nose is quite fragrant with melon being the most prominent note I get. As well, there’s plenty of buttercream, light vanilla, and peppery alcohol. Seemingly pretty restrained on the alcohol notes, though, with just clean ethanol warmth, no fusels or anything like that. Good strength to the aroma.
It’s initially sweet, with a vanilla and sweet frosting-like flavor. That begins to dry as the alcohol is added to the mix, interacting with the sugars to produce a very authentic cantaloupe flavor. Some nuttiness and chewiness ensues but it ends slightly abruptly, again, probably due to it being a honjozo. Some light shaprness/alcohol heat on the finish and lingering melon and vanilla. Interesting for sure and pretty good with food as it’s relatively drinkable.
