Large bottle pour, twist top. Poured an almost clear pour, with just the tiniest hue, like chilled water. Aroma was very light rice. Some light fruit. Alcohol is completely masked. Sake isn't quite my thing, but I wouldn't pass this up if given another opportunity. At the December DC Ratebeer tasting.

Drank at room temperature. The color is straw yellow. The olfactory intensity is high, and the persistence is appreciable. The taste on the nose - dominant aroma is of malted rice Koji. The taste on the nose - secondary aromas include hazelnut, almond, white melon and spices. The first impression of intensity in the mouth is of medium strength’s sake. The aroma on the tongue is medium dry. The body is round. The taste intensity is high and continues sufficiently. The taste is pleasant. The final mouth sensations are ready to drink. The palate has hints of white mushrooms, citrus, vanilla, melon, fruit and kiwi.

Another glass at the new Niigata sake bar near work. I got so many free samples I didn’t rate I really didn’t need this but to be polite ordered another. Damn good sake though. Only hint of tinge to it. Nose of melons and other fruits. Pretty rich palate. Melon, mango, sticky rice, bit of alcohol. Super good

300 ml bottle from the Niigata store in hankyu Umeda underground. Loved thenGenshu version, this seems just to be thebsame sake but diluted. Nose is complex: vanilla, caramel, rice pudding, stewed fruits. Yamahai character is clear. Oily andnslick, clear. Light, silky body. Fruity, creamy flavor is less acidic than imagined. Very furity, peach, orange, melon, vanilla. Very nice, though I think the genshu had the upper hand.

300 ml bottle. Yellowish tint, oily, bit hazy. Bit fruity nose, koji and rice, cream, lightly funky. Rather dusty and a bit spicy. Interesting and original nose. Tangy, citrus, acidic, koji, rice, vanilla, pepper. Wow. Quite interesting. Sweet and fruity but not cloying, light and crisp. Very interesting. Seems like a yamahai but it isn’t. Like it a lot.

720 ml bottle from Ponshu-kan. Dusty, fruity nose, acid, oranges, pears. Rather dry. Sweet, fruity rice and tropical fruits, nice acidity but overall great drinkablilty. Tangerines, peaches, mango. Lightly spicy. Very luscious. Great fruit, great acidity, much cleaner than your average yamahai but still very interesting.

Light, dry flavor, minerals. Rather plain nose, light fruit and pepper. A bit watery and strange. Ok.
