Bottle at Ante, Newtown. Reddish amber brown colour, no head and aroma of rice, savory notes, meaty hint. Taste is sweet, syrupy, rice, fruity, pomegranate, honey, with some tartness. Medium bodied, low carbonation, sweet fruity finish. Quite drinkable.

Bottle pour at Matsugasaki. Yellow. Nose of mushrooms, dried prunes, plum wine, light vanilla, oxidation. Light body, oxidized and aged, reminiscent of a dry sherry, lots of umami, nice acidity. Very nice 23-year old sake, and great value.

Drank cold. The nose tastes like cherry, rice, smoked and spices. The olfactory intensity is high, and the olfactory persistence is sufficient. The consistency of the liquid is clear. The color is very light amber. The body is structured. The sweetness is medium. The taste intensity is high, and the taste persistence is sufficient. The taste is pleasant. The final mouthfeel sensations are ready to drink. The finish is velvety, long, dry and clean. The aftertaste is of medium intensity. On the palate it brings hints of rice, peach, melon, fruit, smoked and green apple.

Served warm in a wine glass. Funky, earthy nose. Ok acidity with lactic acid, yogurt, a bit of wood. Not all that interesting for a yamahai, but ok.
