Cup at the 2016 Kyoto Nihonshu Jourei Summit. Dark reddish orange. Very sweet and oily, like aged plum wine or mirin, cooking sake, or Chinese rice wine. Lots of umami, some funk, and a strong acidity that almost makes the sweetness bearable, though not quite. Very interesting bit a bit hard to take.

Cup at the 2016 Kyoto Nihonshu Jourei Summit. Bright, pale yellow color. Nose is like white wine more than anything else, like a Muscat, juicy. Flavor is extremely dry, with tons of white grapes, light sweetness ends up so dry. Very wine-like and fascinating.

Bottle pour, nuru-kan. Old school nose, rich, lots of koji, rice, a bit creamy. Rather heavy and rich flavor, sweet, not all that clean. Drinkable, old-school futsu-shu.
