Description
Born in a Charlottesville music hall in 1999, Starr Hill is an independent, regional craft brewery founded out of a passion for great beer and live music. In response to the growing demand, Starr Hill moved in the summer of 2005 from to a larger facility in the town of Crozet. It was here where Starr Hill became the first production craft brewery in Virginia, focused on bottling and packaging beer to ship to around Virginia and beyond. The brewery and Tap Room are still based there today, nestled in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Location: 12 oz bottle, 5/26/09, I don't know where it was purchased.

Aroma: Sugary nose, banana, cloves, light citrus, a pretty darn sweet nose
Appearance: Hazy yellow, gold color
Flavor: A sweet one, taste a lot like it smells, just call it sweet and wheat
Palate: Light and easy drinking, something you might enjoy at a BBQ or Pool Party
Overall Impression: I thought this was an OK example of the style, but nothing more then that. A decent beer, but I wouldn't go any higher then that...

**Just submitted a Photo for this one as well, as it was missing one.

No aroma. Black and opaque it poured with a thick brown creamy head, and good lacing. It tasted of charcoal and tangy coffee, sufficiently hoppy, finishing with a metallic piney espresso. On paper this a decent brew, but it is lacking somehow in the gestalt effect. All the admirable qualities are there, but they don’t intermingle as well.

I heard a rumor about this beer. I heard it was either trying to base itself on the old "New River Pale Ale" that was discontinued a few years back (sadly). Whether or not it’s true, I know that for me, this one beer is at least a good replacement, always awaiting the return of the real deal. Aroma is hops, citrus, florals. Flavor is crisp, clean bitter, hoppy, touch of malts. Very nice!

Location: 12 oz bottle was given to me by a friend, 5/1/09

Aroma: Real nice, powerful nose, fresh/crisp citrus hops, pine
Appearance: Cloudy orange/red color, thin off-white head that dissipates quickly
Flavor: Crisp hoppy flavor, with a nice amount of bitterness
Palate: Good mouthfeel, medium body
Overall Impression: This is a pretty darn solid IPA, I enjoyed it. Had an especially great nose that made me really want to drink, flavor wasn't as great as the aroma, but it was a very nice beer.

Medium dark orange color with a dry hop haze under an lightly off-white head that lasts and lasts. Fresh citrus hop aroma. Good clean hop flavor and a malt/hop balance that is definitely on the bitter side. Not bad.

Thanks to Butters for this one! A tall, off-white head forms over the deep yellow/light orange body. Fruity malt aroma. Sweet, malty little hop aroma or bitterness. Not bad, while not outstanding either.
