Bottle from Whole Foods in Charlottesville. Pours a deep ruby red with medium head and good lacing. Strong bubblegum/banana aroma. Smooth, malty taste, with a tad bit of coffee roastiness at the end. This is not very complex, but it isn’t bad.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear dark amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel and molassas aroma. Sweet caramel, light fruit, and some alcohol bite. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 01/26/2009. Dark black body with ruby highlights and a small creamy light brown head. Sweet roast and chocolate aroma with slight oak hints. Sweet oak and chocolate flavor with some yeast hints. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation. 7/5/8/3/15 - 3.8 Sometime before 03/14/2008: On tap at the brewpub. Black body with a medium brown head. Sweet vanilla and caramel aroma with some light chocolate and molassas hints. Sweet vanilla flavor, light caramel, molassas and some chocolate in the background. Brilliantly clear copper body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet nutty aroma with some noble hop hints. Sweet nutty flavor with some light breadiness and a firm bitterness in the finish. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation. Smooth dry bitter ending.

Deep fully opaque brown coloured body, loooking like mud with a thin brown head. Aroma of fudge, chocolate and more chocolate with some malt, and a bit of coffee. Medium-bodied; Strong flavour of roasted malt with a large cacao presence and a bit of a coffee twang near the end. Aftertaste shows the bitter chocolate, coffee and of course, roasted malt. Overall, not a bad beer - a bit heavy on the sweetness, but not a bad beer at all - good to try, especially around Christmas! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia all the way out in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 13-December-2005.

Botte from Beer Run in Charlottesville. Pours copper colored with plenty of head that sticks around. Floral hoppy aroma. Taste is straightforward hoppiness (kinda metallic) balanced at the end with a bit of sweetness at the end. Blah... 6/4/5/3/11/2.9

Bottle. Pours a chestnut-brown with creamy, long lasting head. Malty aroma. A hint of hops in the end, but mainly a caramel-ish taste. Smooth and not as full bodied as I would like for a brown ale.

Bottle. Bad lighting where I am now, so I’m not sure of the color. Dark. Large foamy head, off-white. Aroma is chocolate and something kinda wheaty. Like cocoa pebbles. Also a touch of citrus. taste is more of same with some toffee thrown in as well. A little thin, but still creamy.
