Description
Pelican Brewing Company was born at the beach in Pacific City in 1996. Here, in front of a rundown old building at the water’s edge, stood three enthusiastic young folks whose thirst for great beer overshadowed their understanding of what it would take to build a brewery. They did it anyway. And now twenty years later, older, and wiser, Pelican Brewing Company is a craft beer industry leader with fans throughout the Northwest and around the world. Today we’ve taken our breweries and our values to other Oregon coastal towns where we wake up each day in a place that reminds us that amazing is possible. Cheers fellow fanatics. This is as good as it gets.

Bomber - possibly from Bottleworks. Pours clear dark garnet with a transient tan head. Sweet aromasof bourbon/vanilla. Full bodied. Sweet, but not sticky. Mild heat. Touch of oak. Flavor is somewhat dark fruit with smooth bourbon, and perhaps a touch of brown sugar. Barleywine as it should be.

750ml Bottle. Pours out golden topped with a white head. Aroma was of belg yeast, light fruit notes, spice, and some floral notes. Taste is much as the aroma with the belg yeast leading the way. A nice spice and floral helps round it out.

Bottle at Papsø’s, vintage 2009
The color is very dark brown, almost black, with a small head. Strange aroma, burnt wood, ruhbarb candies, cut branches, phenol... But the flavor is excellent, starting with a full body, then powerful chocolate flavor, and a stingy alcohol presence that actually fits well in the picture; a woody character; strong bitterness, the final also shows some liquorice and more chocolate. Very good.

enjoyed during 2011 RBWG pours brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet toffee and molassis with lots of bourbon notes. Flavor is very sweet, the alcochol is masked well. There is sweet oak, vanilla and bourbon notes mixed in with bread and caramel malts. Nice beer.

Appearance: Slightly hazy brown with a nice sized beige head and light lacing
Aroma: Dark fruits, bourbon and oak
Taste: Dark ripe fruit, sweet caramel, bourbon and vanilla
A nice easy drinker, the 13% is well hidden.

2008 Bottle thanks to DA. Pours with a large khaki colored head over a hazy mahogany colored body. Great lace left behind Aromas of coffee, clove, spicy belgian yeast, orange soda (Fanta), banana, cracked pepper and buckwheat. Flavors of cocoa, molasses, orange, belgian yeast, light acidity, cereal. Ripe plum, banana and vanilla. Creamy carbonation. Vinous and fruity on the finish.

Bottle via Shane, thanks! Poured a clear cherry mahogany/garnet with a foamy eggshell head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had notes of sweet caramel and sweet chocolate with a surprising peat backing. There was also a bourbon burn. Flavor was full of caramel, rich sweet chocolate and had a nice bourbon finish.
