Description

Bottle shared with my cousin Marte who just became a dad. Lightly hazy copper color, full sized white head. Smell and taste malts, anise, a bit sweetish. Expected way worse. Drinkable.

Vrij gebrand qua karamel, vrij hard ook. Had wat subtieler gekund, ook wel balans genaamd. Na een paar slokken went het wel

Interesting. Foamy. Sweet up front, followed by a bitter aftertaste. Resiny in the back, some fruit in the smell. Not bad at all, maybe a bit one-dimensional after a few sips. Good with my pasta, refreshing.

Bottle [from trade with RW80] @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Murky brown color, medium sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, definitely some of the berries come through, slight sweet notes but overall also some bitters. Decent body and carbonation. Decent.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before March 2019, cellared for more than a year. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, stable, brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty aroma of chocolate, hazelnut, licorice and coffee. Fairly sweet, malty, quite roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee and some hazelnut, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, earthy-dry and quite boozy finish. Medium to full body, almost creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite nice, maybe a bit too intense and boozy and therefore slightly unbalanced.

Bottle. Color: Clear golden to amber, white head. Aroma: Malty, hints of yeast and rye, Taste: Moderate to medium sweet malty, grainy, notes of white sugar, hints of yeast, rice, rye and booze. Fortunately not as sweet as most other Tripels and pretty complex for this style. Nice one.

Bottle at home in front of fake campfire on tv. Opaque dark chocolate brown with thin creamy head. Sweet malts, roasted barley, salted caramel, loads of spices, sage and rosemary, juniper berries. Not much smoke to be discovered but after spending the evening on the beach with a bonfire maybe my smoke detecting skills are a bit off. Quite sweet and moderate bitter, some umami salty bbq’ed meatiness to this. Medium body and soft carbonation. I like this crazy brew. Reminds me of the crazy viking stuff they brew in Norway with the juniper and the herbal stuff from Labietis. 🍀🔥🍇 --- Beer merged from original tick of Sage & Rosemary Cherrywood Smoked Bock on 13 Oct 2018 at 16:37 - Score: 7. Bottle. Thanx to Albert Ottjes. Color: Dark ruby, no head. Aroma: Herbs, dark red fruit, caramel. Taste: Medium to over medium malty, pretty strong herbal notes from the sage and rosemary, caramel and fruity, lightly smoked cherrywood notes. Hints of dark red fruit. Welcome change in between all standard bock beers, ok, but just a bit too herbal for me.
