Description
Ed and George Hill along with their parents Brian and Janet Hill planted the first trees of Barn Owl Orchard in 2023 at Wester Campsie Farm, Glenisla. Their vision is to produce fine cider, apple juice and fresh fruit throughout the harvesting season.
This is a dual objective along with biodiversity gain on a predominantly grassland farm which includes integrating more trees and hedges of varying species into the landscape. This in turn will encourage a more diverse and richer mix of pollinators and wildlife; as well as providing more livestock shelter. As such the orchard is managed with the environment and biodiversity as the foremost concern.
From a commercial standpoint the additional income stream will complement their existing beef and sheep enterprise and ensure the viability of the small family farm for generations to come.

750ml bottle from the maker. Golden colour, white foam head that dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of apple, fruit. Taste is sweetish, tangy, tart, appley, fleshy, skin, core, fruity, with zesty citrus hints and drying acidity. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry acidic finish. Quite drinkable.

750ml bottle from Aeble Ciders - Slightly foggy golden body with a gentle fizz. Sharp fresh apple tartness kicks off, slightly bitter acidity in the middle, cooking apple peel earthy undertones in the finish.
