3.3/10 Appearance 4 Aroma 2 Flavor 4 Texture 4 Overall 3
Central Java rail excursion: a small can from Hero supermarket in Queen City Mall, Jl. Pemuda, Semarang, and drunk at the hotel in Kota Lama. Aroma: practically non-existent. Appearance: clear light amber, flat with small bubbles rising, one by one. Palate: light-bodied and slick, softish carbonation; not much doing at the finish. Taste: lightly sweet, a hint of citrus, just a whisker to the right side of cardboard. Instantly forgettable.

6.3/10 Appearance 5 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 7 Overall 7
Central Java rail excursion: a small can from Hero supermarket in Queen City Mall, Jl. Pemuda, Semarang, and drunk at the hotel in Kota Lama. Aroma: very nice, tropical fruits, especially lychee. Appearance: semi-opaque light amber, generous head of off-white bubbles, dissipating to 2-3mm. Palate: light-bodied and quite astringent, fizzy carbonation; it ends on a dry note. Taste: lightly sweet; the astringency masks any fruit flavour, but that’s redeemed by the refreshing Alka-Selzer finish.
