Description
Northbound Brewery hails from the North West of Ireland, where David and Martina Rogers produce hand crafted premium beers.

Having spent almost a decade in Australia, the couple became passionate about craft beer and David learned about the magic of brewing. His knowledge has been recognised by the Institute of Brewing & Distilling, having been awarded the prestigious Master Brewer qualification.

Using Irish ingredients and the Master Brewer's knowledge, the brewery prides itself on crafting natural beers that are unpasteurized, unfiltered, with no artificial additives and bottled fresh on site.

Bottle from Supervalu, Longford [170715]
Golden, clear, thin white head that dissipates
Aroma of soft sweet pale malts, light dough, light fruits, faint nose
Taste of soft sweet pale malts, light biscuit malt, soft bitter hops, light pale fruits, nice subtle flavours despite not much to identify
Palate - Medium carb, soft sweet, clean palate. Finish is light sweet, slight honey sponge cake afters
Overall - Soft, clean, well made Kolsch. Better than the Pale Ale.

5.9
Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5.5

Bottle from Supervalu, Longford [170715]
Golden, clear (initially), medium frothy white head
Aroma of soft tangerine, hint of lime, mellow citrus, slight lemon, maybe peach, quite fruity
Taste - Light biscuity malts, soft citrus, dab of orange and lemon, quite yeasty (did on error tip a bit of the yeast in), aroma better than taste
Palate - Over carbonated, medium body, soft bitter, frothy fizzy mouthfeel. Finish is dry, some biscuity bitter malts, powdery dry (not helped by the yeast)
Overall - Found this a bit too dry. Tipping a bit of yeast in didn’t help. Over fizzy and required swirling to get rid of excessive gas. Prefer the Kolsch to this.

Bottle thanks to Paul. Appearance - good packaging. Golden amber with steady bubbles and a decent thin head. Nose - red and orange fruit. Taste - more of the red fruits. Orange tang too. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a dry tangy finish. Decent length. Overall - very authentic from my experience of Kolsch.
