Helles from Lower Franconia, bought at a drinks shop in the vicinity of Cologne. Medium thick, snow white, moussey, opening and dissolving head on a clear, pale yellow-golden robe with lively visible sparkling. Aroma of dried out white bread, cereals, dry straw, field flowers, pumice, vague background hints of cream cheese and something faintly lavender-like. Neutral onset to lightly sweetish, softishly carbonated, supple and slender white-bready and grainy pale malt core with slightly pumice-like minerality underneath; mild yet well-positioned floral and grassy hops, in the end becoming even a bit wormwoody, but only briefly so - in any case stronger than average for a Helles. Very pure, delicately balanced and above averagely hoppy example of the style, one of the better 'classic' ones I had so far. Solid offering.

Tap on the beach in Rimini, Italy, as Prinz van Franken Pilsener. Pours pale gold, with stable white foam. Aroma is cereal, with some floral and honey. Body is average, with moderate carbonation. Taste is medium sweet, generic, with a fairly dry final.

Bottle. Deep amber colour with a mediumsized beige foamy head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is toffee, some wood, mild alcohol, a bit spiciness with some herbs. Flavour is sweet malts, toffee, some alcohol, mild toast and some slight herbal tones to it.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour with a mediumsized white fluffy head. Aroma is sweet bananas with mild citrus and some toffee toens. Flavour is wheat, banana, some citrus and mild toffee tones. On the watery side of things as for the palate.

Had this on tap at Haus der 111 Bieres, Würzburg, Bayern, Sunday 14th August 2022. This is the house Helles here. Pours gold with a white head, a little sweet, some cereal and grainyness, a little bit plodding, hoping for something a little fresher and more simple, it's ok.

Bottle @ Franken. Shared with Tommy og Pia. Pours clear golden with a white head. Grainy and grassy. Fairly clean. Short dry bitter finish.
