Hand-pulled pint in The Cock Hotel, Wellington (Shropshire) on 13th Feb 2014. Golden and bright body with a good white head that gave some impressive lacing. Floral nature to the aroma and taste initially, with some lingering yeastiness. Once into the beer you find an undertone of bitter hops below a slightly biscuity, light malt flavour. A good honest session ale.

500ml bottle. Clear, deep golden colour with average, thick, foamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Cautious hoppy aroma with unspecific herbal-fruity-floral touch. Taste is flat bitter hoppy, grassy, strawy, subtle fruity hints flash up in between, overall monotonous and slightly watery; chalky, bitter hoppy finish.

Cask @ Coach & Horses, Shrewsbury. Lacked a little flavour for a Christmas beer.. got a little citrus from the hops and possibly some spice if I searched hard enough, but generally felt a bit lacklustre.

Cask at the Metropolitan Bar, JDW - London. Pours clear copper with a frothy white head. The nose has brown bread, mellow diacetyl, toffee. Medium sweet flavor with doughy brown bread, light caramel, low bitterness. Light-medium bodied with fine carbonation. Simple finish with notes of bread, dough, some buttery toffee. Simple but tasty.

500ml bottle. Pours dark reddy brown with a small head. Aroma is yeasty, twiggy Ribena. Taste is malty, red fruits and bread, with a little coffee on the finish.

Cask at the Coal Hole, Nicholsonโs - London. A very so so beer. Very basic elements present, among them mild citrus and bread. Just drinkable.

Cask at JDW Arthur Robertson; clear light bet pour with frothy white head, light hoppy aroma, taste had a hint of grapefruit, pale light malts, moderately bitter and a hint of caramel.

Bottle thanks to Colin. Pours copper with off white head. Nose and taste of sharp grain, bready malt, toffee, stale citrus and light herbal notes. Lighter medium body.

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2013. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a bubbly broken white head. The aroma is caramel, vanilla with some malty hop notes. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a light bodied watery palate and short malty finish. The enjoyment is all up front with this beer but its one one the best from Backyard no doubt!

Cask at the Milton Keynes Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear, dark amber colour with a thin off white head. Malty aroma with some dark fruit and treacle. Good thick mouth feel. Flavour of prunes, sponge cake and dark malts. Finishes with port, molasses and some dry rye bread. Nice old ale.
