Beer no. 17 of my Slovenian beerhunt. Poured a medium sized thick tan head that went away slowly. Lots of lacing, deep red colour. Dusty coffee and nuts nose. Interesting coffee, cocoa and nuts taste with a burnt malt aftertaste. Some basic hopiness. Damn thin though. If this were heavier, this would be formidable. Now, it’s just quite good.

I saw this and MB Dunkel advertised in a leaflet from the Kaufland mall, so I decided to go there and get them. Found only this because they only seem to have used the Dunkel pic for some reason to advertise the Pils. Blah. Anyway, this is a good enough premium lager, unlike the disappointing Pils. It poured a big fluffy white head that dissipated at a medium pace leaving scattered lacing. The nose is only malt, dust and lemon, ok really as they go. The taste is very bready, with some hints of lemon, with a very solid, but not high quality malt bacground sometimes rising up to dominate the taste. The aftertaste is nice enough, malty. I’m with omhper when hops are concerned, they are barely present. All in all, it’s like a mellower, nicer version of the Pils. It’s quite a nice specimen of its style, and nothing I wouldn’t mind trying again.

An orange beer with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet malty and grainy combined with some notes of brewmash. The flavor is also grainy and malty, but also somewhat sour - which makes me wonder if brewing cereal has been used. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky. For quenching my thirst with nothing else around - I’d take this without any problem.

Bottled. Pale golden. Dry and bready with clean mouthfeel. Surprsingly crisp and hoppy, with striking late bitterness. A typical German style pilsener.

Blond color. The aroma is light and hoppy, not bad. The taste is dry, watery, quite bitter, poor; corn. Thanks Jens (Ungstrup) for this bottle.

Bottled. Pale yellow. Aroma of stale vegetables. Dryish with mellow mouthfeel and low hop rate, leaving the field open for the boiled vegetables to dominate.

My first Balkan beer. This is brewed in Vojvodina though, which is more panonic than balkanic....whatever . So, what did I expect from our eastern neighbours....nothing much really, but I’m drinking this completely without bias. Typical pale lager look, pale yellow, quite carbonated, medium fluffy head. Nothing groundbreaking. Nose ? Dust, unpleasant malt, lemon. Interesting taste, but not in a god way grainy and watery, a bit stale. Suprisingly fine aftertaste (compared to the actual taste) - nice bitterness and lemon. Left me underwhelmed though. I expected a bit more really. What had me laughing was the label, which says "Brauerei MB", and "Pilsener Bier". Probably to trick the unwary into thinking that theyre buying and drinking something German. I wish they imported their Premium and Dunkel instead of this.
