14th July 2017: cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Pale golden pour, white topping. Citrusy aroma and taste, I’d guess Simcoe hops. OK really, it’s just me fed up with citrusy golds.

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly round off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, yeast, light chocolate. The flavour is light liquorice bitter with a light watery roasty smoky malt, yeast light sour palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Not great but I feel that this cask was coming to the end of it’s life and I was drinking more than my fair share of sediment.
