Side pour, Brighton, 12/17/24. Clear garnet, dark mahogany. Big ol greige head. Great retention. Moderate chocolate, light mineral and good base malt. Most importantly, clean. Not over/under hopped. Pretty good aroma for its size. Juicy chocolate and plum-raisin. Milky roast with big chocolate and a dry, mineral-strong finish. Wow, Widowmakers draughts are way better than their cans, though for unexpected reasons. Coming from Notch, the fact that this lager is great, is even more impressive.

Brighton draught, 12/17/24. Heavily hazy, golden-blonde-lemon. White head, spotty. Juicy, spicy, light berry and deep greenery. Biscuit and well-attenuated Pils malt. Clean, no resin or booze. Hey this isn't thickly-sweet! Wow. Berries for days, lots of cracker and biscuit. Actually want more malt depth but I can get behind the attenuation. Lingering juicy berry and orange-mango. A bit shorter, slightly dulling finish. Too much in suspension?

11/20/24 canning, drunk 12/16/24. Clear, bright lemon-blonde. Large, white head. Can smell the acidity from the sake yeast in the nose with cracker and sweetness from the rice, light honey and white bread. Quite malty. More lemony acidity and light mineral and malt lingering. Clean. Very malty, dense, somewhat sluggish in the mouth. White bread, lemon, sake-like acidity, but not enough, and a clean, somewhat American-ish saison character. In the end, it's like most of the other Widowmaker beers I've had - just too thick and sweet. I don't care for their relatively lower level of attenuation. Especially in styles that don't particularly call for it.

I see the word sake and beer and I can’t resist. Gold pour. Nose is lemony citrus and peppery. Tatses of cloves, coriander, lemon drops, banana, bubblegum and grass. Nice medium bodied. Lingering spice and. Citrus.

Can at home. Unclear hazy yellow to light orange color, white head. Aroma and flavor are lightly malts, pleasantly hoppy, hoppy bitter. Somehow without having a certain specific pleasant sticky or old school hoppy thing that I really like, overall this is still pretty good. I like it.

Can at home. Ugly murky yellow color, full sized white head. Aroma is malts, hoppy, nothing special. Flavor is lightly malts, hops, a bit fruity, fairly sweet, yadayadayada. Same old same old. Boring and one of so so so many. Typical NEIPA. I don't like it. I don't hate it either, but it's not my kind of beer, even though it's drinkable.

Can (1/25/24) from The Liquor Junction, Reading. Opaque dark brown with nice sparkle, ephemeral head with no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla. Taste is strong roasted malt, toffee, vanilla. Smooth, frothy texture, average carbonation, mostly lactose and vanilla finish (does have a Devil Dog quality). Good strength for ABV. Nothing spectacular.

Pours pale yellow into a shaker. Bright white fluffy head with good retention recedes leaving soapy sheets. Hay and lemon aromas. Crisp with sweet hay and lemon upfront turning to earthy sourdough and lemon meringue before the lasting earthy bitter pith finish.

Can at home. Opaque ugly murky yellow color, full sized bubbly white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, hops, a bit citrusy, light tart, hmm hard to say, in the end I don't really like this one very much. Mwah.
