Keg at The Plug and Tap, Preston. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of ashy dark malt, charcoal and chocolate. Taste is fruity, sweeter than the nose would suggest, rich dark malts. Light bitter finish.

Keg at the Pembury Tavern - Hackney. Pours deep brown with a dense, creamy beige head. Nice ashy roast character, milk chocolate, earth, dried berries. Meisum bodied with fine to average carbonation. Very well balanced finish, excellent depth, layered dark malt character, more chocolate. Impressive.

Can from Hoptimism mailorder. Spruce and resin aroma with added citrus. Hazy pale gold. A few mm of bubbly white head. Light bitter. Some spice. Some citrus. But muted. Light bodied. Thin but slick. A low key fizz of carbonation. Dry finish. Hmmm. Hype strikes. Alright but it's not very exciting.
