Clear deep nutty color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing. Looks good. Medium body and a quite flat carbonation level. Tad sweet and a decent bitterness. Nutty, caramel , herbal and mild fruity flavor. Decent flavor, just served to flat and a bit to warm.

Keg from the Parcel Yard, Leicester. Golden, clear with a tiny layer of white head. Dormant aroma. Light toasty notes with some candy sugar and maybe a touch of blood orange. Tastes pretty bleedin' good though, strong without being boozy, with a decent malty backbone. Carbonation is pretty soft for a keg beer, allowing the full body to shine through. Very good if imperfect in places.

Handbill cask at the Western, Leicester. Copper/amber with a large off-white head and lots of lacing. Strawberry, wood, sweet spice on the nose. Starts sweet and malty on the tongue but the bitterness grows sharper toward the finish. Bitter finish marked astringency and a fairly medicinal aftertaste. Traditional but not boring and very well put together.

Handbill cask at the Western, Leicester. Copper/brown with a fairly large just off-white head. Lots of natural carbonation. Sharp woody aroma, some redcurrant with marked astringency. Bitter fruity taste with malt loaf, horehound. Extremely bitter finish without being acrid. Long astringent aftertaste. Cask bitter at its best.

Cask Gravity at Moira Furnace Folk Festival, Moira, Leics/Derby’ border. Saturday 19th August 2017 Yes this is not great it’s like a Dr Pepper soft drink meets a beer, fruity, spicy (too spicy) it’s not that it’s a bad beer, it’s just you wonder why they bothered. A6 A4 T5 P3 Ov11 2.9

Cask Gravity at Moira Furnace Folk Festival, Moira, Leics/Derby’ border. Saturday 19th August 2017 Mid dark gold, good clarity, a sprinkling of bubbles atop. This is my 500th Derbyshire rate . Refreshing but the bitterness is a touch harsh at the back end. It’s only after 3-4 sips I get the ginger but then it really does come through and steadily shows throughout. A nice beer just a little harsh at finish. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2017. Pours hazy amber with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of hop, fruit, flowers, malt and caramel. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Medium to full bodied, sticky/oily texture, soft carbonation.
