Bottle at home – gift from the man it was named after ! Gorgeous head of liquorice, honey and orange. Pours cleanly with a well balanced, strong head, and a reddish black body. Liqourice dominates in the mouth, along with hazelnuts, caramel and malt. Bitterness is disguised, but comes through strongly in the aftertaste. Overall, a restrained but very nice beer. If Goldilocks had three black IPAs to choose from, she’d choose this one !

Pours murky dark orange, quite a fluffy off-white head at first but that reduces into a thin layer of foam quite quickly. Nose has unfortunately some plastic at first, light tropical hop bitterness and weary-fruity sour edge there as well. Drinks easy, very much this juicy-creamy-chalky mouthfeel that NE IPA's should possess. This one has maybe quite weak body though, feels somewhat watery Still, flavour-wise quite good, very drinkable. This bottle is not very old but surely past its prime - so as with all NE IPA's, drink this as soon as you can.

Bottle at launch in sip. Pours amber with whiteish head. Aroma is hoppy, citric, caramel. Flavor is bitter and somewhat sweet, caramel, hops, citrus, pine. Finish is dry pine bitter. Covers alcohol rather well. Drinkability is good. Overall: very good, i like the drinkability.

Bottle. A murky orange-brown beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has tropical mangos, some citrus and fructose, also strawberries and glue. Taste has same elements, mango, citrus, pine, some gluw, enough of bitterness. Light+ bodied, high carbonation. Unfortunately, not totally pure.

Bottle. Pours quite light coloured, some medium carbonation. Nose has a bit of grains, light fruits, and hint of tartness. Taste that is following does pretty much the same, everything light and toned down. Not very sour, not very fruity and not very grainy (last one is a good thing). I guess feels like berliner weisse should, just a bit boring. Especially when naming of the beer is so awesome - Apripocalypse Now! - you kind of wait for that apricot invasion or acidity attack or at least something.. and then, meh... I guess drinks well on a hot summer day still.

(Keg at Ota Olut 2017) The beer poured deep orange and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, citricness and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, citricness, sweetness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity and mildly bitter. A very fruity brew with low bitterness but luckily there was that bitterness.

Pours dark, mahogany. Bit of white foam. Aroma is dusty cocoa, chillies. Chillies come out also in the taste , chocolate spicy. Pretty good. Great balance and drinkability for this kind of beer.

Creamy amber. Flat, only a bit of foam. Nose is creamy sweet, hops there also. Pear syrup. Taste is creamy and super hoppy, harsh and with lots of sweetness. Can not do a pint of this but a small sampler is something I really enjoy. At the end maybe hops are making this a bit too one dimensional but well, 22% beer is fun if consumed in small quantities.
