Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is earthy, hay, barnyard, grain, faint cheese and light toast. The taste is dough, earthy, citrus, grass, light floral, crisp bitterness and some underlying sweetness with a dry, finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice condition. Fine golden.

Golden beer with a foamy head and takes a moment to clear. Very light fruit scent. An initial sweet fruit flavour settles into something slightly sourer and hoppier. At first I found the sourness a little off-putting but after a few mouthfuls that aspect of it dulled a bit. Quite drinkable.

Bottle from Aldi 020112
Amber, clear, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma - Soft sweet golden caramel malts, soft cereals
Taste - Soft caramel malts, hint of toasted malts, touch of unusual smokiness - bit farmyardy, vague hint of citrus, some bitter hop in background, odd flavour but it’s drinkable
Palate - soft carb, medium body, quite oily. Sweetish malts and light bitter hop palate. Finish - fairly dry. bitter lingering dryness, palate not that clean.
Overall - Very average beer, some unusual smokiness in the sweetish malts that makes it stand out a bit though, hop presence is just some soft bitterness. Reasonable.

Really pleased to see three different bottles from this brewery at a party (4th Aug 2012): talked to the host and ensured I got all three to try. This was the first: best before 14 July 2012, so just out of date, like the other two. Anyway it was poured into a glass tankard. Light to mid-amber look to it, head of white bubbles, stayed and gave some impressive lacing, so conditioning was good. Bread/biscuity malt aroma, lightly baked, no burnt or heavy maltiness here, or in the taste. Semi-sweet feel to the taste, caramel for sure with that malty molasses taste some brews now seem to have. I’ve a sweet tooth, so I really enjoyed this as my starter for the evening.
