Bottle from a lazy dog. Slightly hazy dark brown with ruby highlights and a creamy bubbly beige head that slowly dissipates to a cap. Earthy caramel and chocolate dominate the nose. Light to moderate roast with a hint of vanilla cream round us out. The flavor is sweet and malty with lots of caramel and chocolate offset with some creamed coffee and a bit of earthy hop. I question the 55 ibu’s here, but maybe the malt is hiding it a bit. Medium body with alight to moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. Straddles the line between brown ale and stout, but quite flavorful; I enjoyed it.

Been waiting to find this on draft and haven’t been able to so... I picked up a 22 oz. bottle for $5.99 at my local Market Basket. No bottle date or label marker anywhere, like always. Cloudy gold color with light head retention. Aroma is grain, bready malt and light pine hops.

Flavor is a damn near copy of the aroma. With a light hint of women’s perfume with Dried straw. Bitterness is mild with a lighter side of medium in body. Overall, it’s drinkable for sure but I still hope to see this on draft in the better beer bars in NH.

on tap-white-hazy pale yellow. A-spice, yeast, lt malt/grain. T-spice hops, yeast, a thin lt malt-cracker, some zest.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Downtown Discount Beverage for $6.99. Pale yellow with a hazy complexion. Belgian yeast, pilsner malt and lemon peel. Nice.

The flavor is yeasty with the above mentioned sweet malt, lemon peel and a hint of zesty spice ( but really subtle). The mouthfeel is light with a grainy texture. At 4% you can drink this all afternoon and not ever feel a buzz. If you want a Belgian ale just for flavor and enjoyment this is it. Nicely crafted.

Bottle from North End Suprette. Pours a cloudy light straw color with a huge bubbly white head that slowly recedes leaving bits of meringue in its wake. Floral hops, bready pilsner, hints of lemon and pepper, yup this one smells like a light summer brew. The flavor is light and refreshing. Hints of lemon mixed with a bit of sweet bread some spicy peppery flavors come in to offset before a fairly dry finish. Light body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a sweet watery mouthfeel. Nice light easy to drink Belgian style ale. This would be a great beer if summer ever decided to get here.

22 oz. bottle from Top Shelf Brews. Orange hazy color with some spotty head retention down the sides of the shaker glass. The nose is a nice mixture of pine upfront, herbal notes and a hint of floral hops. Flavors are very crushable. This goes down easy for anyone who enjoys pine and herbal IPA’s. It starts Herbal and earthy with a solid malt backbone. Pungent pine notes show up in the finish and gives a lingering pine and earthy tones for a good duration. The alcohol is lightly noticeable but does not hurt the flavor.

The body is medium with the carbonation at the appropriate level. After having this in a bottle I can’t wait to find this on draft. Nicely crafted.

The appearance has a dark rusty amber/red colored body with a one and a half fingered white foamy head that lasts for a good minute before gently dieing into the body, some light speckled lacing sticks nicely to the sides of the glass.
The smell has some earthy caramel malts and light bitter hops that round out a nice sweet aroma with some toffee coming through.
The taste has mainly a sweetness running through the caramel malts. There is some toffee that comes through with a light nuttiness to it with a light caramel/nutty aftertaste and a dry sweet finish.
On the palate, it sits about a light to medium in the body with a decent enough sessionable aspect to it that could assist in going with its respected food. Carbonation is somewhat smooth but still there’s a decent harshness to subside the palate a bit longer as there’s the element of a slight creaminess rolling over the mouth and tongue.
Overall, I would say this is a nice American Amber/Red Ale well worthy of coming back to and well worthy of having it with its respected food.

Bottle from the Beer Store, Pours a solid black color with a huge bubbly and creamy beige head that persists forever. Aromas of creamed coffee, chocolate, and caramel dominate the nose. Light vanilla and a hint of earth round out the nose. The flavor is rich creamed coffee, caramel and a hint of chocolate again with just a touch of vanilla and brown sugar. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet creamy silky mouthfeel. This is a very nice coffee beer, easy drinker and quite flavorful.

Draft @ New England Tap house Grill. 2/8/2012. Standard pint glass shows dark brown with little head retention. Nose is a solid amount of roasted malt. Chocolate, roasted grain, hints of vanilla and Earth. Dark chocolate flavor with some coffee, English malts and a light herbal note near the finish. The body is normal for the style and it has a slightly creamy texture. This is best standard release from this brewery. It’s well worth a try if you like porters.
