Description
Oldskool likes to brew beers in a new format. A focus on old beertypes with pure love for the classic & modern hops. This combination will create balanced beers that ought to be enjoyed slowly. At first the focus will be on old beertypes with a love for the German and British hops. The main goal of Oldskool is to educate beerlovers, breweries, pub owners and liquor shop owners with the message that it is possible to brew great quality beer with the right people and the right ingredients. For regular consumers we like to point out there is a lot more out there than a regular Duvel or an artificially sweetened Bockbeer.

Hence all OLDSKOOL beers are brewed: According to the Bayerisch Reinheitsgebot, without any additional sugars/ spices / acid; At a selected Dutch location; Brewed by a different expert every time; With the recipe, enthusiasm and beerlove from one of the youngest International Beersommeliers in the world, Dennis Kort.

(Bottle, Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2015) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with dried fruit, banana, clove and citrus. Malty, fruity taste with notes of wheat, citrus, orange, banana and a dry grassy/citric bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, quite dry. Different, but tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Bottle from het Biermoment, bottle #110 from 11-2014, BB 08-2015, large sample. Slight hazy deep golden to orange color, big frothy off-white head. Aroma has slight spices, clove, bit banana, some citrussy hop, bit grassy even, soft flowery. Slight sweet in taste, bit bitter, slight hint of alcohol. Bit dry in the finish, bit sweet. I think this Hopfen Weisse benefit a lot from tap vs bottle, as they are more creamy and less dry on tap. Still, quite nice beer.

Tap @ derat, large sample. Hazy to cloudy golden color, medium creamy white head. Aroma of flowery hop, slight spicy weizen, wheat, all in great balance. Wonderful combination of hoppy bitterness together with spicy and slight sweet wheat, hint of banana and clove. Perfect example of how a hopfen weisse should be. Truly excellent beer!

Tap @ PINT Winterbier 2015, small sample. Dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of earthy and fruity hops, caramel, chocolate. Medium bitter in taste, quite fruity again, slight chocolatey sweetness. Almost towards a black IPA, but with quite some chocolatey tones to build up body. Lovely stuff.

Sampled at PINT Winterbierfestival Gouda, 2015. Nice dark red-brown color with a red glare coming through, medium sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell and taste malts, a touch of roast, something weird I can’t describe. A slight herbal hint and some bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Hmm hard to describe, I think this beer and me have a love - hate relationship.
