Keg at Brewdog Cowgate Edinburgh. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of grapefruit, oily hop resin, green plant stalks. Taste is firmly bitter with some malt backbone appearing. Bitter finish. Drinks to the strength.

Keg at BD Inverurie. It pours crystal clear golden with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is green, freshly cut grass, weedy, pine, sappy, candied citrus peel, grapefruit, pomelo and sherbet. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, pleasing bitterness which lingers, touch green, piney, resin, damp grass, slightly herbal, pithy, zesty, bright citrus, rindy grapefruit, pomelo and a touch of bitter orange peel with a drying, bitter finale. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Lovely west coaster. Well judged

Can from Lidl. Dark brown body with a few tiny flecks beneath a thick tan head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of nuts and milk chocolate. Flavour of chocolate and nuts. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Creamy and nutty. Very tasty, and achieved without lactose too, which I admire.

Can. Morrison’s. Nearly black. Soppy beige foam. Nose has roast malt on top of Dubai chocolate silliness. Surprising lack of sweetness which is nice. Drinks easy and belies the 6.5. Bitter finish.

440ml can from my mate Gordon. 1st beer of a small Scottish tasting session with myself and no one else on 17th October 2025. Margie is out having a meal and I'm home alone (with Bertie) listening to hits of the 70's while drinking some new brews. Billowing head on opening the can, a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass being used. Hazed pale golden body, orange peel nose. Bit thin and watery with a strong tangerine and orange feel trying to make you forget how weak the ABV is.

Can. Morrisons. Fully hazy pale gold. Very decent fluffy lasting white swede. Fully expecting milky and sweet here. However, glad to be proved wrong. Pretty clean overall with semi sweet malt and plenty of bright citrus peach stone hoppage. Some dryness aids the drinkability. Pithy finish. It’s a bit of Axe Edge actually. Which obviously is a very good thing as Axe Edge doesn’t seem the same beer, lately. Maybe the beer buyer at Morrisons knows their shit?
