Apotekergaarden 020217. Golden color with a white head. Aroma is fruit, hay, grass, oranges. Flavor is hop, fruit, hay, grass, alcohol, oranges, pepper, yeast. Full body. Very nice beer.

Bottle, at Apotekergaarden. A tripel at the higher end of the ABV scale,weighing in at 11%. Was expecting a rather boozy nose then, but it’s not bad at all. There’s some of course, but it’s fruityness that runs the show. Black pepper, yeast hints, grass and a generic tropical fruit scent chimes in. The mouthfeel is quite warming, but the flavor doesn’t feel boozy though, as the aroma it’s mostly on the fruity side, with a generic fruityness, some citrus zest and tropical fruityness, black pepper, freshly mown grass and yeast. And a fine bitterness. It’s full-bodied and appropriately carbonated, dryish, yet with a residual sweetness that is far, far from cloying or tongue coating. Guess the bitterness and alcohol helps preventing that. Lasting fruityness dominated finish. In my eyes, the name of the beer could just as well be Triple, instead of Hoppy Triple. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s hopped more heavily than is normal for a triple, but that isn’t very noticeable. Anyway, it is a really fine brew that I’d love to repeat. 170202

Bottle, at Apotekergaarden. A small, dense off-white head leaves some lacing over an almost clear golden colored body. The aroma has mango and pine cones, some peach and a wee hint of pale malts. There’s apple juice added to the beer according to the label, don’t know how much, but I didn’t pick up any apple aromas or flavors. It’s pleasantly carbonated, medium bodied and smi-dry, with a good bitterness. Mostly fruity in the flavor too, a generic tropical fruit flavor, with mango standing out. It’s lightly piney, with little to none malt flavor. Long fruity and bitter finish. A pleasant one indeed, just like a pale ale should be. 170202

Bottle, at Apotekergaarden. It’s a lightly unclear golden-orange colored beer with a small, dense, white head. Some curtains. The aroma has lots of lemongrass, which is a bit surprising, as there’s no lemongrass added according to the label. Pepper of Taiwan is the only non-regular ingredient on the list, might be related to that, who knows. Some pale malts and a touch of white bread chimes in, so does a little yeasty touch. There’s a fine bitterness in the mouth, it’s fruity and lemongrass-ish, with some pale malts in the far back, and there’s also some yeastyness going on, in a nice way though. It’s medium bodied, dry and nicely carbonated, with a lasting fruity, lemongrassy finish. A refreshing and quaffable beer indeed. 170202
