Bottle @ home. Clear golden color, medium sizde white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell and taste malts, lighlty hay, suitably bitter. Average to medium body and carbonation.

Bottle at home. Clear golden with white head. Grains, light almonds, some vegetables and light hops in the finish. Light to medium sweet with light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Light crisp beer, don’t get much of the hops mentioned on the label but a nice drinkable beer nonetheless.

Pale blond. Pleasant aroma with just a light hoppiness. Flavour has a slightly numbing spiciness. Smooth texture. Light bitterness.

Bottle at oak aged festival. Reddish brown with small off white head. Very spicy and herbal with cloves, vanilla, curry, mustard seeds. Sugary with lots of bitter hops. Medium bodied. Don’t get much rum here, weird but interesting beer.

Bottle 330ml. [ As Muifelbrouwerij Kruijens Kracht ].ABV: 8.5%. Clear medium to dark red brown color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate yeasty, candy, brown sugar, dried berries - fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, dried dark berries, dried fruit, yeast, candy - sugar, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150117]

Opaque dark brown colour, with a red hue against the light, large creamy beige head, good retention, good sticky lacing. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, liquorice, cocoa; mild taste, light heavy sweet, slightly bitter, bit roasted. Medium body, watery to light creamy texture, average carbonation, aftertaste light to medium bittersweet, light roasty, alcohol well-hidden, not so special but ok.

Originally intended as a one-off, this is now brewed once a year. Apparently matured on ’jenever’ barrels - a first for me, but since I do not like jenever too much, I do not have much confidence. Pours a transparent burgundy bronze colour, hazy, under a thinnish, lacing, pale beige head. Aroma weaker than expected, indeed revealing a hint of old ’jenever’, apart from marzipan, raisins, powder sugar, canned pineapple slices, candied cherries, banana liqueur, wine vinegar, indeed the vanilla-like tannins, warm apple cake, rubber, caramel, weeds, faint iron, blackcurrant, straw, calvados and a luckily faint touch of H2S (sewer water), fading away after a while to let the other aromas come to full development. Sweet onset of raisins, candied dates, passion fruit and candi sugar, medium and somewhat ’numbing’ carbonation becoming softer and friendlier in the end, a hint of sour berries - even with slightly drying effect; caramelly, bready and somewhat nutty, full maltiness provides background, yeastiness increases towards the finish, spicy, supported by herbal and peppery hop bitterishness in the finish though never becoming truly bitter, as well as solvents, lingering caramelly malt sweetness, something ’meaty’ (proteins), a very, very faint background smokiness and indeed a fair deal of warming, evidently ’jenever’-ish alcohol, on the brink of becoming wry, but still with a drying, astringent, though not really disturbing effect. Acceptable for what it pretends to be, but still a long way to go in comparison with e.g. the La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged editions, which are situated in exactly the same style.

Thanks Robert. orange color, very cloudy, big white head. smells grassy, light pines, grainy, light smell of tobacco / ash, light elder berry. full body, slick mouthfeel, taste of honey, berries, passion fruit, sweetness, light astringency, grassy, citrus, light dry finish. overall good but, but it is lacking a bit. There was something in the smell I did not like, probably the ashy / tobacco smell, taste is good, but the finish was kinda ... boring.
