Description
Muifelbrouwerij is located in The Netherlands in Oss, Noord-Brabant. Our mission is to develop, produce and sell tasty and unique craft beers. We started in 2007 and we are extremely proud on our brewery and our craft beers. In our head-quarters at the Vikingenweg in Oss we have a tasting room, our warehouse and since January 2019 our own brewhouse, fermentation tanks and filling line.

The name Muifelbrouwerij might need some explanation. Muifel is a non-existing word and is derived from Megen and duivel. Megen is a small city in The Netherlands where the brewery started on small scale (20 liter brews) for private consumption. Duivel is Dutch for Devil. Muifel was the name of one of the beers from the early days, inspired by the famous Belgian Duvel beer.

On tap at Kafé België. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma is light fruity, some soft sweet stone fruits, floral, bordering on soapy, light malty. Flavour is pale malts, floral, light fruity, nice grassy firm hoppy bitter finish, hint of pine. Light to medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle shared at the Croydonia Tasting, thanks to Leighton, 13/07/13. Murky amber brown with light floaty friends (fiends?), decent sized off white covering. Nose is bready malt, rich dark fruit, woody notes, light booze. Taste comprises dark fruits, mellow nutty tones, sugar, touch of booze, toffee. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation - smooth an drinkable, dry finish. Decent enough quad, not too boozey and pretty drinkable.

Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of malts, yeast and bubblegum. Malty flavour, light sweet, yeast. Finish bubblegum and apple. Bit too middle of the road, not very outspoken, not my kind of beer.
(From 75cL bottle @ RBESG 2013 Grand Tasting, Bodegraven. Thanks for sharing, Abijen!)

Bottle at the Croydonia Tasting - East Croydon. Vintage 2011 that I picked up in Amsterdam a while back. Pours lightly hazy amber with a creamy tan head. Nose of sweet malts, mellow meat, caramel, ripe semi-dark fruits, brown sugar. Big sweet flavor with ripe fruits, apple, molasses, rich bread. Medium to full bodied with fine, average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with more ripe fruits and light, dry toffee. Lovely quad, very drinkable.

2011 bottle shared by Leighton at Croydonia tasting. It pours cloudy deep mahogany with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, toast, wood, varnish, stewed orange, tangerine and a touch of sherbet even. The taste is light roast, caramel, fudge, toffee, toast, earth, orange, dried fruit and alcohol warmth. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Not too bad at all...

Bottled. Hazy copper color, medium creamy off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some coriander, caramel, biscuit, hint of chocolate. Quite sweet taste, slight bitter, bit spicy note which probably represents the coriander in taste. Quite sticky in the palate. It’s a bit too sweet for my liking, but it fits the style quite good and gives the beer a nice body and complexity. More dry instead of sweet would be not good for that. Alcohol is quite well balanced by the malty backbone. Very nice to see the ingredients on the label. The award it ’won’ (silly small easy to manipulate website award) they could and should have left imo, it only distracts from the beer itself and doesnt need that kind of nonsense. Still, more than decent beer.

Bottle from Speciaal Bier Winkel, Bodegraven
Hazy amber color with small head. Soft but evident peat aroma with light vanilla and very light alcohol, impression of cheese. Full bodied, yet with lean mouthfeel; good malt flavor, with a touch of caramel and toffee, moderately sweet, with strong bitterness, very good alcohol management, and a roasted nuts final.
Clean, powerful (lightly boozy), good.
