A clear orange brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of dark caramelized malt, herbs, grains. Taste of caramelized dark malt, spices, herbs, moderate bitterness.

C: dark, opaque.
A: dark malts, nutty, caramel, banana, red apples, coffee, whisky touch.
T: full malty base, roasted tones, banana, coffee, whisky, chocolate, woody touch, red apples, medium carbonation, decent bitterness, not bad not great even, enjoyed.

Dunkler, moderat malziger Beginn. Herb-würzig, feine Röstnoten, dunkles Malz, süffig. Weich, moderate Bitterkeit, mittellanger Abgang. Gefällt. 9/8/9/8/6/9

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is roasty with notes of coffee, chocolate, sugar, touch of liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate bitterness. Medium body. Bittersweet, roasty, coffee.

De Poes Export (Cat. 1), Fläschchen aus Tausch mit Jef - danke schön! -, serviert nicht bei barbarischen servir à 3°C sondern nur leicht gekühlt, wie das zu einem Export paßt. - Lichtes Goldbraun, trüb; sehr üppiger, munter weitersprudelnder Schaum. - In der Nase intensive aber weiche, kaum herbe Zitrone, belgische parfümiert-blumige Noten, getreidige Süße, Aprikosenkonfitüre und milde, schön blumige Hopfenherbe. - Im Antrunk parfümierte zitronige und blumige Hopfung von gar nicht so knapper, leicht trockener Herbe. Recht schlanker, gar nicht Export-typischer Malzkörper. Milder rezent, weich und angenehm trocken. Im Abgang milde aber äußerst gediegene blumig-herbale Hopfenherbe. - Schmeckt ganz anders als erwartet, auch völlig anders als deutsche Exportbiere (von denen es v.a. in Niederbayern noch einige kernige Exemplare gibt!) aber auf seine Art völlig überzeugend. Würde ich jederzeit wieder trinken! (19.12.2024.)

T: medium malty base, bready, bit oxidized, watery caramel, bit harsh bitterness, soft to medium carbonation, nothing really special here, drinkable.

T: full malty base, caramel, dried fruits, bit coffee, molasses, spicy touch, bit metallic tones, decent bitterness, leaves, medium carbonation, good one, enjoyed.
