Dark brown, opaque and very, very flat. Aroma of soy, brandy, soot, espresso. Bittersweet taste with strong sarsaparilla and cinnamon notes. Finishes sour with a flat oily body. Some more apothecary notes in the finish. Very drinkable and with surprising complexity.

Gravity cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. Golden/honey brown, clear with a bit of white head around the edge of the glass. Smell has papaya with some basement odours... not what I expected. The astringent bitterness of the taste lifts it a bit. Bitterness stays throughout the long finish. A very English IPA at a very North American intensity. Sounds good on paper but doesn’t quite work in my opinion. Worth trying all the same.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2014, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Fellows Full English ].Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, nuty, caramel, wood, toffee - butterscotch notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, earthy nutty bitter, malt bitter, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140814]

Gravity cask at Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Very, very dark brown. Nary a sliver of light getting through this little chap. Smells of naked alcohol, single estate dark chocolate, charcoal. A shadow of Scandinavian salt liquorice. Bittersweet, chocolately and slightly herby taste. Spicy bitterness in the finish. Bitter hop aftertaste. Flat and a trifle sludgey. A tongue-coater of a stout. Dangerously drinkable.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty and breadish. Dry dark malty. Bitter, dry and toasted malty. Ends bitter and slight herbal.
