Description

On tap at the brewpub. Unfiltered, golden beer with a small white head. Pleasant weak aroma with malt and hops. Malty, slightly grassy and grainy flavor that could use some more hops. The mouthfeel is a bit soapy, and it has a floral finish. Medium body. A pleasant beer in the summer head, slightly sweeter than their regular. (060716)

"Siphon" swingtop bottle/growler, bought at the brewpub, courtesy of my wife. Deep golden/amber colour, a faint haziness, rich head. Lovely floral aroma with notes of honey and butterscotch. Moderate carbonation, fairly malty flavour with moderate notes of toffee and butterscotch. Mellow mouthfeel, very moderate hops. Slightly acidic aftertaste. The bottle was near its "best before" date, I have a fresher bottle too, will rerate if there’s any significant difference.

Draught. Softly malty aroma. Brown colour with a red shine. Stable, rocky, light brown head. Good maltiness in the flavour. Slightly roasted, low bitterness. Appropriately thin mouthfeel for a Schwarzbier. Mild carbonation. A mild beer, but it goes down well.

Draught. Hazy dark brown colour. Alcoholic start, quite vinous, a little acidic. Unstable head. I guess it is OK, but it does not seem like a traditional bock or doppelbock to me.

Draught at the brewpub
Hazy copper color. Light aroma of malt and hop. Round, malty taste, with some sweet caramel, slips easily on the tongue; bold bitterness, good hopping (Hallertau). Solid beer, pleasant.
