Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a very thin offwhite head that fades quickly. Aroma of caramel, smoke, faint hops and a faint yeasty note. The taste is smoke, caramel and a mild tart note that comes across as apples and barnyard. The tartness grows just a bit as the beer warms. Medium bodied.

Growler shared by a traveling HSC member. Pours a hazed golden-orange color with a medium thin off-white head that burns away quickly. Short strings of lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of wheat. Light, somewhat dry body with flavors of bananas, wheat and mild spices. The finish is sweet, clean and fruity with a lingering banana aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Growler shared by a traveling HSC member. The beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium fluffy beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and mild citrusy hops. Light body with a somewhat crisp character and flavors of sweet malt, caramel and hops. The finish is citrusy with a short mildly hoppy aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color appearing opaque black when poured. Huge brown head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts and a faint earthy note. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, minty hops and cherry-like fruit notes. Thin bodied. Slightly watery.

Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a large creamy tan head. Malty aroma with notes of chocolate, bread and honey. The taste is toffee, bready, nuts, molasses, stone fruits, booze and caramel. A little too sweet, cloying in fact. Medium-full bodied.

Sampled on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark reddish brown with a very large tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, caramel, nutty notes. Aroma of peat, caramel and plum-like fruit notes. Full, creamy mouthfeel. Decent.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub. Pours a dark amber color with a lg tan creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, nutty notes and floral hops. No hint of the rye. The taste is peach, pear, faint rye notes, leafy hops, caramel. Medium bodied. This is apparently made with some smoked malt, hence the nuttiness I guess.
