Can. Light amber with a slight haze. Fairly thick head. Has an overripe fruit aroma, with orangey notes and a touch of rye. Thick malts, fairly sticky, with a lot of bitterness, more than the IBUs promise. Sticky chewy malt finish - DIPA isn't really the best place for rye, honestly. Tropical hops are clashy with this malt bill, and there's a lot of alcohol in the finish. I don't mind the elements - ok the malts aren't to my taste - but it's more the way things come together (or don't) that I think aren't great.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Darker shade of blond, slightly hazy; the head disappears, quickly. The aroma is very nice, it's delicate and fruity, with a whiff of papaya. Dry mouthfeel, too weak; not getting much from the malt base, while the fermentation, instead of those nice and fragile Brut notes, produced a distinctive vegetable character.
Mediocre.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Blond colour, hazy, with small frothy head. The aroma is mellow, faint fruit, sweet malt. It manages to be quite crisp and sweet at the same time; simple but non obstructing malt base, sweet candy fruit, pineapple, and relatively low bitterness.
Clean Milkshake IPA, pleasant.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver
Cloudy golden colour. Light aroma of fruity hops. Moderately sweet, the malt flavour is not too strong, it has robust bitterness with some hop qualities, resins, bitter orange peel, but it also has a strong alcohol burn, and after a few ounces it may become excessive and cloying.
Good.

2019-03-02, can, 7-3-7-3-14=34
Light brown and cloudy, dull and ugly, with almost no head. Heavy bourbon, mellow, lots of vanilla and fudge; sweet and sticky, but not enough malt depth. Strong alcohol.
Ok beer, but over the top.

2019-02-01, draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver, 7-3-8-3-14=35
Cloudy amber colour, apparently still, with no head. Some aroma of alcohol and bourbon (6.5). Sweet mouthfeel, low carbonation, bready malt flavour, a bit oily, with strong vanilla and cheap bourbon character, quite some alcohol burn too, but it helps balancing the sugars. Low bitterness. The final is weak, short, unemotional.
Bourbon bomb, with no complexity. But it's enjoyable.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a cloudy dulled orangey yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy hops, some spiciness, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bold, with a nice balance of earthy, spicy hops, some pine, and crisp biscuity malt. Lightly sweet and spicy on the finish, with a nice piney character. Excellent.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out pithy stone fruits, rich caramel, some spicy earthy rye, and bready toffee. Flavour is quite complex, with caramel, earthy rye, and bready toffee. The barrels then accentuate these elements nicely. Well-rounded and clean, which was the opposite of what I expected here. Excellent.

Can at Weathered, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out harsh rum, with light vanilla and some toasted malt. Flavour is really unpleasant, with cheap swill rum, stale candy, and alcohol. Unbelievably bad - the worst of the night.

Can at Weathered, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lactose, and medium toasted malt. Flavour brings out light lactose, oats, and medium toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, tasting like Oreos. Cookies in a drink. Fun beer.
