Red-brown, nice chocolatey aroma, some sweeter caramel malts, more chocolate.

Straw, quite light, spicy hop character, the finish is quick, and itโ€™s overall just a light beer.

Amber-brown, a bit light, touch of biscuit and caramel. A bit of a throwaway beer, like it exists because thereโ€™s supposed to be an amber in the lineup.

Mega pale, very light, bland am wheat taste, quick and watery, a little malt but too thin.

Draught at Elizabeth Station, Bellingham; this should be the 2013 vintage
Brown color, clean, with small head. Candi sugar aroma, a bit fruity. The body is thinner than expected; malt and caramel flavor, sweetish, with low bitterness, and light booze in the end.
Simple.

This pours from the can a yellow gold colour with an impressive head of billowy foam. Slowly shrinking foam reveals some nice lacing.

The nose is of bitter citrus, grapefruit, and more bitterness from what I perceive as pine. Btw, thereโ€™s still a 1 finger head of foam since I poured it.

A west coast IPA it claims to be and by golly, a west coast IPA it is. Deliciously bitter without being overly so. Itโ€™s more of a piney hop bitterness than a citrus one and that pine seems to carry just the wee bit of malt sweetness along for the ride.

That, I think, takes the possible over the top bitterness to my palate to a more manageable level; it is still a very hop forward brew, mind you, but it rests in my comfort zone and that is always what I hope for in brews of this type.

The mouthfeel? Lets me just call it perfect.

Beertunes, mate, a big thank you for this wonderful nectar. Iโ€™m enjoying the long lasting aftertaste even now that my glass is sadly empty.

Growler brought up from Bellingham courtesy of Chris.
Chris and I both had ours out of pint glasses.
The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. The lacing was there with a fairly thick stringy speckling that ends up rolling down the sides of the glass.
The smell had some good rounded roasty coffee notes to let in a nice bitter citrus hoppiness rolling in nicely.
The taste combined those flavors nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was good for the style and for me. Roasty and citrus bittersweet qualities rolled over my tongue.
Overall, this was a pretty good black ale that I would have again.

On tap at Kulshan, pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Aroma is pungent, with loads of herbal, pot-like hops - that's all I'm really getting. Flavour is really pot-like, with loads of marijuana hops. Not really any malt backing at all, just an overpowering of marijuana hops. Good beer, but a tad too monolithic and too much pot.

On tap at Kulshan, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crackery malt, floral hops and some herbal notes. Flavour is fairly full, with herbal hops and dry crackery malt. Pretty boring stuff and a little flat. Okay.

Draft pour at the brewery. Pours light gold with a near odorless aroma. White grape juice flavor with some other mild fruit flavor. Short peppery finish. Light summer time beer. Pretty good.
