Description
The Lander Brewing Company began brewing beer in the late 1800’s in a small facility just across the Popo Agie River from its current Main Street location. A thriving operation for many years, Lander’s first brewery was forced to cease production due to The Prohibition Act. The brewery was re-established 120 years later and Lander residents and visitors can once again enjoy the delicious taste of fresh, locally made craft beer.

Under the direction of brewmaster David Morton, Lander’s only local brewery has won numerous awards for its craft beers. In 2011 Lander Brewing Company won the coveted Saratoga Steinley Cup, the top award for the best microbrewery in the State of Wyoming. Both The Great American Beer Festival and The North American Brewers Association have bestowed the Lander Brewing Company with abundant medals for several of its beers.

The Lander Brewing Company initially reopened its doors with hopes of bringing craft beer to Cowfish Restaurant and the next door Lander Bar. Over a decade later, the brewery has grown substantially and is now supplying its beer varietals to other restaurant and bar accounts in Lander, as well as in Jackson Hole, Riverton, Casper, Cody, Rock Springs and many other Wyoming locations.

The Lander Brewing Company prides itself on brewing fresh, high quality, “to style” beers using the finest ingredients and techniques. Joining brewmaster David Morton, is brewer Adam Bridgeford. David and Adam's many years of professional brewing expertise in concert with the exceptional water sourced from the Wind River Mountains provide the flavor profile of our many signature beers. You can sample Atlantic City Gold, Jack Mormon Pale Ale, Rockchuck Rye, Half-Tanked Hefeweizen, On Belay IPA and our latest seasonal offerings at the source or at the upcoming Lander Brew Fest.

On tap in Lander. Hazy light yellow orange appearance with a white head. Tons of banana, a bit on the sweet side, lightly spicy. A little chewy. Nothing special but kind of refreshing.

Howler from Liquor Shed.

Pours almost a pitch black; I see some reddish hues when I hold my glass up to the light.

Milky malty nose up front with substantial notes of roasted malt, lesser of chocolate and coffee.

Roasted malt tops in the taste. Milk stout notes, mild coffee and chocolate follow.

Very smooth flavours going on with this medium bodied light carbonated stout.

A joy to drink. Thanks, Liquor Shed, for putting this on the Growler Station.

From a Howler purchased at Liquor Shed.

Light gold colour with a small head of foam, minor lacing.

Big chile nose with an almost smoked smell to it; smoked chiles that is.

A bit vegetal on first sip before the chiles move in. Not a very hot beer for the style though the back end does supply some heat and it lingers for some time after the swallow. Take away the chiles and what would you have, imho? A blonde or golden ale.

Soft carbonation and light body.

A good effort by Lander Brewing.

Had at the Lander Bar.

It poured the palest of straw yellow, cloudy, about an inch of foam.

The smell was spicy and fruity..lots of clove and bananas, other spices like coriander. Smells like the style intended.

The taste reflects the smell pretty well but doesn’t quite live up to it. Sure, the clove(maybe overdone a tad) and banana are strong as is the coriander but about mid palate on, things go a bit watery.

Light bodied and medium carbonation, it, like I said with the taste, ended up on the watery side and I didn’t feel inclined to have another pint.
