Clear golden coloured body with a slightly orange glow and a very thin, single centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of metal, malt, light citrus and very little else - fairly bland in the nose. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic flavour at first with some soapy and citrusey hop character and a touch of light sweetness from honey at the end. Aftertaste shows some more malt notes, not much in the way of hops and very little complexity - what you get at 1 second into the beer is what you still notice a minute or so afterwards. Overall, a pretty poor offering considering the billing from the outside of the can. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whip-In in Austin, Texas on 05-May-2014 for US$1,79 sampled at home in Washington on 08-September-2014.

Rich copper and bronze coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of bright PNW hops with quite a bit of malt, some alcohol and a nice piney scent as well. Medium-bodied; Pungent hop flavour dominates at first with a good balance of rich strong malt. Alcohol shows near the end as well with a definite depth of flavours. Aftertaste shows some rich caramel, a good malt backbone and yes, of course the hops dominate. Overall, a nice beer for sure and more of an East Coast IPA, but a great one to sample, especially in a can and especially in central Austin. I sampled this twelve ounce can at Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar in Austin, Texas on 05-May-2014 for US$4.99.

On tap at brewery. Pours a clear gold with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong tropical fruit hop, resin, and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with nice wet hop, tropical fruit, and light bitterness. Very impressive.

Can shared in NYC - cheers to Dr. Sandman. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose has roasted pine, bread, rindy grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor with burnt toast, lots of juicy citrus fruits, lingering grapefruit, earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with more toasted bread, faint cocoa, ripe citrus, some bitter toasted grass and orange rind. Very good.

Pours dark brown, looks nearly black without direct light but it’s quite brown when lit. The head is medium-sized and tan in color. Good retention. Lots of bubbles sticking around, coating the top of the beer. Cleanly malty aroma. Nutty with caramel depth. Very light coffee roast. It’s a nice, round malt sweetness. Taste is mild and nutty, again. There’s some malt sweetness. Caramel in the finish. Solid grain flavors. Mouthfeel is pretty normal. Relatively light, medium carbonation. Good beer.

Can @ America Strikes Back, Ulfborg. Pours clear light amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and hops, with gentle touches of fruit. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with touches of citrus and sweetish notes of malt and fruit. Rather round finish. Bitter aftertaste with acidic notes. Nice.

On tap at Marriott Round Rock. Clear medium amber pour with a big off white head that leaves moderate lace. Nose is heavy citrus and pine with only a vague note of caramel. Taste is much the same with a slight burnt metallic tang in the finish. Medium mouth and average carbonation.
