Sample at Vintage Estate. Brownish-black pour with a thick tan head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, roasted coffee and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at the bocktown. Barely any aroma but there is a slight smell of odd spice in there. Dark and roasty flavors with a tad of leather coming thru. There is some medicinal attributes but it never gets in yer face. Initially a mild bitter burnt background but become more bitter as the session continues. Seems to have more alky in it than a session should have but that’s JMHO. However, its not hot bitterness like you’d find in an impy stout.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a crystal clear bright golden color with a large creamy-soapy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy, malty and a bit dry. The flavor was tangy and bitter with a hint of perfume, Windex and pepper. Long perfume and Windex finish. Medium body. Not good.

At bocktown. Hay like color appearance. Interesting aroma. Not bad initially but goes medicinal during the session. Even so, it has a pretty good attitude about it. Made well like many north country brews.

At the bocktown. Friendly aroma. Initially a little strong but the alky content is never revealed. Interesting yeasty flavors. Decent sizzle. Unique beer experience.

Pinkish odd brown in color. Nice foamy head turns rocky. Odd berry aroma reminds me of some not so great tasting cider I made once. At first it is difficult and medicinal. At times the hops and fruti give this a unique artificial and weird fruit beer experience. Not sure if I like it but I think I’m getting dizzy near the end of the glass, wewwie. Finish is lingering hop weird combination fruit. Must say tho, for a 8% beer, it comes across more like a 6% er, so I guess it hides the alky fairly well. Must be some kind of Belgian yeast, no?

Looks like cloudy lemonade. Some mild fruity peachy perfume barely noticeable on the nose. First taste makes me think of the better kvass I’ve tasted; mild friendly and easy going. You would never know this was over 5%, tell me more like 3.3%! Hints of hay and grass fer sure. Goodly amount of co2. Although there is peach int here, it is never in your face and nigh does it have an over the top fruity thing like the demerits of so many fruit beers. Easy, well behaved and friendly is how I would describe this experience. Just a very simple enjoyable fruti beer, I liked this stuff.

First north country beer I ever had from a can! Quite strong initial impressions. Not slimy, heheh. Clear orange and yellow with a brown tint. Smell is a little sweet. At first, before I saw it was a pils, I thought it was something like a medium APA. You know, that ale bite but then after it settled for a while during the session it did start to resemble a pils in an odd kinda way. Yes, finishes with a mild pilzner bite.

Rare beer on tap at the bocktown. First, from the start, let me say that I don’t care for black IPA....mostly because I don’ like IPA nor impy stout. However, if this is a black IPA, its the best one I’ve ever had. Good initial stout aroma, fairly mouth watering. Big and black with a choco moose head that fades rapidly. Mind you. it is fairly well behaved and I would say this is more like a civilized apa. Yes, pretty good on the roasty effects yet it is impressive without going over the top. Good job north country...finally a black IPA that is not rying to get in yer face. Decent co2 makes this fairly palatable.....yes best overall black ipa beery experience for a lager lover. Finish is typical heavy apa or mild ipa effects with a tad of that old burnt damp campfire wood thing happening.

Sampled on draft at Chef Dato’s Table in Latrobe this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy beige head that faded but left incredible lacing. The aroma was roasty and toasty with an undertone of vanilla. The flavor was very roasty with notes of coffee, cocoa, vanilla and a bitter floral hop undertone. Long roasty coffee, cocoa and vanilla finish. Medium body. Solid.
